Watch Olympian Dalilah Muhammad Crush a 16-Year-Old 400m World Record Without Breaking a Sweat

We’re one year out from the Olympics, and Dalilah Muhammad looks like she’s ready to add another gold medal to her collection. While most of us were busy dealing with a case of the Sunday scaries, brunching, or meal-prepping on Sunday, Dalilah was busy running her best race ever and breaking a world record at the 2019 USATF Outdoor Championships.

Arguably one of the deepest fields at the national championships, something exciting was bound to happen in the women’s 400m hurdles race. The weather was lackluster, the track was wet, and Dalilah had just gotten a minor concussion two weeks prior. But when your training is sound and you’re ready to run fast, nothing can stop you.

Dalilah clocked a time of 52.20 seconds — .14 seconds faster than the 16-year-old world record time of 52.34 set by Yuliya Pechonkina in 2003. In an interview with NBC Sports, Dalilah said, “I’m still in shock,” after realizing what she had just accomplished.

The craziest thing about this entire race, in our opinion, is how effortless Dalilah made setting a world record look. Something tells us she’s not done breaking world records. After a weekend of superior races, Dalilah stamped her ticket to the 2019 IAAF World Athletic Championships in Doha in the 100m hurdles and the 400m hurdles.
