In this, step-by-step, hair tutorial video for beginners, I’m going to show you how to create a half French fishtail braided, retro ponytail on yourself, for short, medium, or long hair lengths. This hair braiding style is also known as lace braiding. Fishtail plait hairstyles can be done on straight, wavy, or curly hair. I”m wearing my hair curly for this hair tutorial.
Low ponytail updos will look great on any face shapes, whether you have a long, oval, square, or a round face and it’s particularly flattering if you go for the retro look from the 70’s by covering the top of your ears.
Beautiful, elegant, voluminous braids hairstyles can be worn as an everyday, casual hair style for children, teenagers for school, or for a formal occasion like a wedding, prom, homecoming, or for a fancy bridal party. Braided looks makes a trendy, teenage hairstyles and French fishtail braids are actually easier than French braids to do.
A perfect partly or date hairstyle.
Basic written steps | how to create a lace French fishtail braid ponytail hair style on your own hair.
This step is optional but first, curl your hair with a 1″ curling iron if you want a curly ponytail before starting this tutorial.
Part your hair to the side, my part was on the right.
Take a small section of hair, about 3~4″ wide, and split it in 2 and cross the left strand over the right.
Start taking hair from the scalp on the right side, and incorporating it to the left strand to create a French fishtail braid.
Take a small strand of hair on the left strand, and incorporate it to the right section as if you’re doing a regular Fishtail braid – since this is a lace Fishtail braid, we’re only making it a French braid on one side.
Continue French braiding down until you reach the ears.
Once you reach the ears, finish off that section with a regular fishtail braid and tie it with an elastic.
Clip away the braid so you can gather the hair left out to make a low ponytail.
After making a ponytail, wrap the braid around the ponytail to create an elegant and chic hairstyle, trendy for any occasion.
