The mermaid nail is another look gaining popularity among nail techs. It is a fairly simple application that looks like fabulous mermaid scales when complete. For this look Stephanie begins by using a white acrylic with a form. She forms the acrylic as usual but before it dries all the way she uses a small sheet of tulle and gently presses it upon the white acrylic. This leaves indents and creases that mimic the look of scales. After that she layers on the purple acrylic to fill all of the creases. She allows that to dry and then drills over the purple to allow the white beneath to show through. Once files and buffed, the nail can be decorated with jewels before being sealed with a UV/LED top coat. The end result is a gorgeous fairy tale nail.
